FIRST WORLD IMMIGRANT

I am an immigrant in the very country from which my pure bloodlines are four generations removed.  A familiar but new culture and (difficult) language are my new daily reality.  I have relatives in this setting.  I have in-laws.  My children are citizens.

Immigrant is a loaded word worth reflecting on.  For the first time in my life, I am an immigrant.  It is a decidedly privileged experience in context to what the term implies in many world settings, and I get that.  I am a first world immigrant.

My experience will be new. I will have epiphanies, long-stewing impressions, and as is my nature, I will express my experiences here.
